LA-based studio Viva Kids (The Amazing Maurice) is bringing its family-friendly movies to Chinese techco TCL’s smart TVs.
TCL will roll out a streaming service with Viva content on its TVs and phones in North America this summer. Movies such as The Smurfs and the Magic Flute, StarDog and TurboCat, 100% Wolf (pictured) and Spy Cat will be available to TCL users.
The partnership is part of TCL’s broader plan to expand its content library. The techco has been focusing on stocking up its devices with series and films so it can attract consumers, said Mark Zhang, TCL’s North America president, in a release. “There is no doubt that consumers desire more entertainment options, so we’re excited to enhance our offering through Viva’s extensive content library,” he said.
TCL, which offers access to streaming services on a subscription basis as well as for free, has previously added Roku to its TVs.
The techco was the world’s second-largest TV maker in 2019. In the US, it has been one of the two best-selling TV brands for four consecutive years, according to the company.
